Questions for the Week of May 7th

Hello Watsons group! We hope you enjoyed the end of the book! Please don't forget to come to class on Wednesday with one idea on how you can create change in our world.

1. How does the bombing of the church in Birmingham change members of the Watson family, especially Kenny? Discuss how you felt when you read about the bombing and the children who were hurt or killed. Have you read or heard about similar events that have taken place recently? Why do such things happen? Do you think anything can stop them from happening?

2. What does Kenny see at Colliers' Landing? Describe what happens to Kenny. Who saves his life?

1. Is Kenny a good friend to Rufus? Explain your answer and back it up with examples from the book.

2. If you have brothers and sisters, do you ever fight? What do you fight about? Do you think there will ever be a time when you don't fight?

The Week of April 23rd

1. Which character in the story do you most identify with so far and why? Which character would you like to be more like?


2. The Watson parents are somewhat different from most parents in the way that they operate their household. The father is more laid back and fun, and the mother is the disciplinarianian. Is this the case in your house? Describe how your parents behave.
