Questions for the Week of May 7th

Hello Watsons group! We hope you enjoyed the end of the book! Please don't forget to come to class on Wednesday with one idea on how you can create change in our world.

1. How does the bombing of the church in Birmingham change members of the Watson family, especially Kenny? Discuss how you felt when you read about the bombing and the children who were hurt or killed. Have you read or heard about similar events that have taken place recently? Why do such things happen? Do you think anything can stop them from happening?

2. What does Kenny see at Colliers' Landing? Describe what happens to Kenny. Who saves his life?

Well, this was a hard time for Kenny becusae hse thinks he didnt do anyitng to help Joetta. He saw the Wool Pooh and ran. JOey probaly did not know what was happenning. Kenny just let out all of his feelings out. I thought it was really nice of Byron to help him. It is really sad that white people always use to ( and still do now) do the same thing. Peoplpe are stupid and they think the whole world should eb the same and one colour. PEOPLE ARE DIFFERENT COLOURS SO GET USE TO IT!

NUMBER TWO:

Well, Kenny was stupid and decided to go swiming when the signs said DANGER SIX PEOPLE HAVE DROWNED HERE! WARNING! Does that gice oyu a clue? Anyway, he drowns and he htinks the Wool Pooh is pulling him down. At first he was on the sandy, pebbley bottom then it gives way and he is vacuumed into the deep. Then after his third time getting pulle down, Byron is able to dive in and grab Kenny to save his life. BO BYRON!

Byron is on a roll!

THIS BOOK WAS AWESOME! IT KICKED BUTT.

Kenny had a hard time because he got scared and ran because of the wool pooh. He kind of was crying a storm in the bath room and By was kind of helping him. I was shocked when the bomb went of I was kind of freaked out but only a little. I have not read or heard any thing happening reacently. Things like this happen because some people kind of dont really like the other race. It would take alot of people to stop this hapening.

Kenny thaught he saw the wool pool and ignored the signs and got in and he got sucked in and then by comes and saves him. I also think that he was trying to prove a point that he did not believe what by said.

HOLA MY HOMIE PEOPLES. I loved this book is so amazing and it was so sad at the same time.

A.)I think that the bombing incident as so amazingly surprising! I was so shocked how the incident affected Kenny. He was so jolly and a happy fellow, till he started to be alone and waste his precise childhood (At least like a couple days of it) cramped up behind a couch that was called,” The World Famous Watson Pet Hospital.” I love how they have all kinds of special names for the things on their lives like the WOOH-POOH and the Pet Hospital! I don’t think that if affected Joey very much but I think that it affected Byron a little because he seemed very loving to Kenny when he started balling crying. And Byron kind of just sat there comforting him until he stopped and then got on with his life. Also when Kenny was hiding and spending all of his time behind the couch and Byron was bringing him snacks and sleeping on the couch next to him and stuff. And I thought that that was really cool. I felt so horrible when they said that four little girls got killed in the bombing incident. It breaks my heart because they were so innocent and so unaware of what was in store for them. Why on earth would someone with no heart do that to people and not go insane with the guilt of what they have done. Think about the little girls’ families and how they feel about how they just lost their little girl. I would just want to kill myself and especially the person who was the culprit of the bombing. This incident reminds me of the Virginia Tech thing. I have absolutely no clue why people do this to other innocent people. Maybe it’s because they are mentally ill and have some sort of disability. Or maybe because they are racist or sexist and they hate black people or white people. Or maybe they are like Hitler and they only like blue-eyed people or brown-haired people or something like that! And that is wrong but sometimes they have a reason but there is never a excusable reason to hurt other people! I seriously don’t know how to stop something like this. Because you can’t control other people and/or their actions but I wish I could!

B.)At the Colliers’ Landing Kenny disobeys Byron and Joetta and he goes into the lake and a strange thing pops up out of the water and grabs his feet. The thing like Byron said is called the Wooh Pooh. He keeps pulling Kenny down into the water deeper and deeper. Deep enough until Kenny temporarily passes out until he sees a couple little girls appear in the water next to him and they are also under the Wooh Pooh’s control. Then he starts to see all of his family members. But all of these figures aren’t real except the last one he sees. The last family member he sees is Byron but Byron turns out to be real and he saves Kenny’s life. And then he becomes very close from then on and I am sure that Kenny would be very grateful for Byron saving his life!

I bid you a due all of my friends! And I wish you all happy readings and a good life (Boy that was corny, but o well!) Good bye for now, until we meet again( mwuahahahahahahaha!).

When the bombing of the church occurs Kenny doesn't think that he saved Joetta's life. I was really sad when i heard about the bombing of the church. Later in the book they say that some of the children were killed or hurt. If I was a sister to one of the children that had gotten hurt or killed then I would be very sad. There have been some bombing in other countries. I think that these things happen because one country gets angry at another country then both countries get into a fight and start attacking eachother. When Kenny went to Collier's landing I think that he imagined the Wool pooh because I don't think that the Wool Pooh really exsists. I thought that Byron saved his life.

Kenny got really freaked out by the bombing. I felt sad when I read the part when the church was bombed and the two kids were killed. I think these things happen because people have dislikes. Byron saves kenny's life in Collier's Landing. He saw the sign that said Danger six people have drowned here.

It changed Kenny by showing him that there are some things you can't do anything or change anything about life. I felt really sad and mad at the same time. I have heard about killing in Iraq. I don't know why this happens, I guess that some people are sick in the head. I can't do anything about it.

Kenny saw the wool pooh (laugh out loud.)in the pond. He thought he was drowning because of the wool pooh (laugh out loud, again). Byron saves his life, oh about the L.O.L. thing, it's our last blog, I have to say somting cool!

It was sort of had on Kenny since he didn't save Joetta fom the bombing. I felt sad when Kenny took not saving Joetta's life on himself. I mean he didn't know that The Sunday School church .
Byron is able to save Kenny from the "Wool Pooh"
Kenny saw the sign that said 6 people have drowed here. It was a choice of common sense

Hello....

1)I thought that it was really sad with the bombing of the church and stuff. Its sad with all the children who were injured and killed. If it happened in real life, then I would be really freaked out even though I dont even live close to there. I have heard of storys like that. About a row of houses were burned and I dont even think that they had a good reason. Only the houses of 3 african americans were burned. The other ones just caught on fire from the other ones. I wish there was something to stop them from doing that. Its sometimes a hopeless cause.

Im going to finish the rest later so see ya!

1. The bombing alters the Watson's family life because they almost lost a member of their family!I think Kenny really took the blame but I dont understand why. He saved Joetta rather than abandoned her.Another thing close to the bombing was VTech shooting.

2. Kenny sees the evil twin of Winnie The Pooh's who is Wool Pool. He sees him dragging him under the water and almost kills him. Kenny thinks the blue, clear cold water even though there is a sign saying six people died here!! Then he gets caught in a whirlpool and his big brother saves his life. Like hah said GO BYRON!!

It makes all of the Watsons very sad because they think Joetta was in the church and died because of the bomb. I was sad because it would be terrible for someone to bomb a church and kill all of the people inside. I have not heard of any similiar events recently, I do not watch the news regularly. things like this happen because white people don't like the color of black people's skin, so they bombed a church that alot of black people attend. Some people are so ignorant, that nothing can change their mind.

Kenny sees a fish and a turtle and he tries to catch the turtle. Kenny got caught by the wool pooh when he went into the water, it grabbed his ankles and pulled him deeper into the water and Bryan came and saved Kenny from drowning.

New Entry
1. I think it scared the Watson family because they thought Joetta was dead. It was so suprising that things like the bombing incident happened everday in 1963. Kenny was so happy and sweet before the bombimg incident and now he is all alone and upset for not saving Joetta from the church bombing.I felt ready to burst into tears when I read the part about the four little Sunday School girls who were killed. I just could not believe that someone would do something so horrible. Just think about the familys of these four girls. This man put their families into a lot of pain.
2. At Colliers Landing Kenny disobeys Byron and Joetta, and starts to get in when the"Wooh Pooh" grabs Kenny and pulls him unde water. If it hadn't benn for Byron, Kenny would have died.
Thanks for making this such a great Lit. Circle groups!

Hello my homies!

1) I think it hurt Kenney because he sa 3 dead girls. He mite have thought one of them was Joey. I felt bad because they make white people look bad. Black people will think we are all bad.

2) Kenney thought he sa the Wool Pooh. But it was achilly a woorl pool. He almost drowned but Byron saved him.

Well BYE <''>

HELLOOO There!!! today is beautiful and gorgeous all arond. i think. I can't wait to frolick with my animal friends after they help me clean the house of course. Ahh The smells they enrich my senses with sensibility? Oh Well. So the first question I can answer easier, the second one in that part was very odd indeed.
The big KABOOOOON!! It was scary but very predictable. Well not for the character's in the book, but for me. Although it was a bit of a shocker where it happened, but it seemed like that was what made the book. I have to express my true feelings for this book, I didn't truly care for it and wouldn't recommend it or read it again. I didn't have to read,(In the sense other than for school.) Sorry to all those crazed people who love this book with a fiery pation that burns deep in their blood rushing heart. This book did not fufill my reading needs or standards. Some parts where good like the bombing kind of. It was sad to think that someone would have the nerve to bomb children in their place of worship when they were concetrating on prayer the people were thinking of death and destruction. This must be hard on Kenny because of the things that he saw. This is probably how he'll remeber Birmingham for the rest of his life. Hell always carry this moment through out his life. Joetta will probably have the same sort of out look on this when she finds it out. She'll always remeber following Kenny away from the horrible mess and when he sat silent on the bed holding her shoe in grave dissappointment. This stuff happens a lot things may have changed, but you can't change everything. The past will always be with us and you can't change it (unless you have a time machine which would allow something of such technology.) People need to learn to accept people. If everyone was blind, do you think everyone could get along better with other races? I'm not sure. I'm not sure if anything or anyone can stop this horrible mess of discrimnation. People will always have thoughts and that's what makes them, them.
Before this happened Kenny decided it would be a good idea to be dangerous and cool in Birmingham. So he ignored Grandma Sands, and Colliers warnings and went without By. He chose to be daring at the wrong place. Trouble was bound to find him in those waters. No surprise there. He had many chances many warnings and chose to ignore them trouble was found. The Wool Pooh had got him. I think it was neat and intresting how they described the wirl pool in a younger kids interpretation. At first I thought he was dreaming and By really wasn't there. I knew he wouldn't die. I also thought he might have some strength left, but saw himself as By, what he'd want to be. Nope By saved him HOOORAYY!! hoopla well that's all fine and dandy, but Kenny cried in the bathroom with By when he was pondering upon the actions in Birmingham. By will never be good his nature is trouble and he doesn't care.

GoodBye for now until we meet again
A due A due to you and you and you. i was just singing that song. ummmm My favorite things.

Hannah did that for talent show.
See you later.

I think the bombing changed others lives because they learned how bad racism really is. I think it especially changed Kenny's life because he will always be able to picture his sister lying there. I was really surprised that the church got bombed. I really didn't expect that. I haven't heard about anything like that that has happened recently. I think those things happen because there are still a lot of racist people in our world. I don't think anything can stop prejudice people from stopping to be prejudice. Kenny sees beautiful blue water at Collier's landing, and gets in. He chases fish and a turtle, and the rock crumbles beneath him. Byron jumps in to save him. He does save him. I loved this book!!!!!!!!!!1

Hey, hey, hey! I can't wait to go outside! It's soo nice! Well...I better get this finished!

1. Oh my gosh! That was so scarey! Especially because Joey was supposed to be in the church when it got bombed! I was like AHH she died...but she didn't. I thought it was weird how there were little girls just sitting in the yard of the church after it happened. It was probably because they were shocked but still thats kind of freaky. Oh and I totally agree with Heather. I mean, people should just accept everyone even if they are a different skin color. Who cares?! I mean it's not jsut skin color. It's what you wear, what you look like, what you act like, everything.

2. Oh, this part was scarey too! When he got in the water and everything was sliding out from underneath of him. Oh, and then he started getting sucked in and he was like oh i went down once you have to come back up. I went down twice, one more time and i wont come back up. Then what does he do? He goes down again. Like thats wasn't coming. Then Byron, actually being nice, saved Kenny! Whoo-hoo! He lived! So...there's my answer! Bye!

1)I think it really changed Kenny alot because showed how much he cared about others especially Joey because he even went into the church and that really showed alot.

2)I think byron saved him becaus the WOOH POOH is nonsense+Kenny was being stupid and decided to go swimming. :(

1.Kenny is in a rough time in his life he has to understand that life isnt fair and bad things happen. but kenny also has to look at the bright side he did help joey get home and then joey didnt have to worry as much about what happend.its horrible.

2.Kenny was acting real stupid and decided he was daddy cool and went into a pool/lake and a whiral pool sucked him in and he thought it was the wool pool who was sucking him in.(i think thats immature to think the wool pooh was real.)but when he thought he was dead bryon saved him. go byron.

HELLO!:):):):):):):):):):):):):)
1.) I think it was a very hard time for Kenny because he thinks he could of done something. I was so shocked I couldn't even believe it. How could someone be that mean to do that. Just because the are black. I haven't heard about any of thoose events recently. They happen for many reasons and I only know one reason because they think thier religious god says so. No I don't this will ever change.

2.) Well Kenny very very very stupid to swim in a pool that had a sign say 6 people have DIED HERE! He almost drowns until Byron pulled him out.
